« back to classes page
ClassGraphic The California Motorcyclist Safety Program Motorcyclist Training Course is designed for beginning and experienced motorcyclists. Students attend a total of at least 16 hours of classroom and on-cycle instruction. The course introduces the fundamentals of safe, responsible motorcycling. Experienced riders can also benefit by learning safety skills, as well as the convenience of taking the riding test on our smaller motorcycles to earn the DL389 certificate.

All students must attend the two lectures, two ranges and be on time. If you are late to any portion of the class for any reason, you forfeit the entire course fee. To reschedule, you will need to call the Community Lifelong Learning office. The cost for the course is $425 for students 21 or older and $395 for students 15 ½ - 20 years of age. A parent or guardian with valid ID must accompany a minor (15 ½ - 17 years old) to first range class to complete paperwork. No exceptions! The DMV requires riders under 21 to successfully complete a Basic Rider Course to get a motorcycle operator's license. Registration and payment for the motorcycle course does not guarantee a DL389 Certificate, you must successfully complete all portions of the class.

You could participate in the course by reserving our scooter or using your student-owned Scooter. Special requirements apply when using your student-owned Scooter. You must call the office in advance at (209) 575-6063. Read Special Notice before registering.
