« back to classes page
This camp is perfect for teenage girls and boys who are interested in careers as first responders and firefighters. This camp will provide a 1-week training at our Modesto Junior College Regional Fire Training Center on West Campus. Fire science instructors and fire fighters will teach students about fire safety, safe actions they can take in emergencies, and how fire trucks are useful in different types of emergencies. Students will participate in classroom and lab learning, physical training exercises with rescues, ropes and ladders, and extinguishing fires under controlled safety of our fire simulators and burn tower. Fire training is a real workout, participants gain confidence, but will also have some fun-themed relays, drills and games. Information will be provided on careers as firefighters and paramedics, our college program, cost and length of study. Best of all, our campers will have some real-life experiences they will remember in first responder and firefighting techniques.
