Our popular musical theater camp is back again this year and for the first time MJC Summer Camp for Kids is proud to present Willy Wonka Jr. The delicious adventures of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences. The camp will be held on West Campus where rehearsals will take place and our evening performance will be held on MJC East Campus in the Performing Media and Arts Center. Kids will enjoy learning elements of theater including production, acting, singing, choreography, costumes, and make-up. Through themes in our production and the learning experience in this camp, students gain important life skills; confidence, public speaking, teamwork, diversity, and overcoming obstacles. This three week camp is the best value this summer. Enrollment is limited, so don’t miss out on this fun kid-friendly experience.
